According to a recent study by Clever, a real estate data company, nearly three in four Americans worry there is a recession this year, with 69% of survey participants saying the US is already in a recession. a recession. Survey shows Americans have a bleak economic outlook
After the recent Federal Reserve rate hike and the US Department of Labor inflation data that followed, investors and analysts are unsure what will happen to the economy in 2023. However, many expect a recession. a recent study by real estate data firm Clever surveyed a group of 1,000 Americans and asked 21 questions about the US economy. The Clever report shows that one in five US residents consider the economy to be the most pressing issue today, while 43% of those surveyed rank it in the top three most pressing issues.
Clever’s study shows that two in three Americans are concerned that the Ukraine-Russia conflict and the Covid-19 pandemic will continue to affect the economy. The most common market that respondents said they expected to fall is the US stock market, with 38% believing this will be the case. Some 33% of the surveyed participants believe that the crypto markets will crash, 28% suspect that it will be the labor markets, and 27% think that the real estate market will fall. The research also shows that 22% of Clever’s survey participants do not believe that the United States has had a single good economic year in the last ten years.
When it comes to the crypto ecosystem, Clever researchers claim that 31% of participants view cryptocurrencies negatively. That data includes the 57% of the baby boomer generation, who view cryptocurrencies negatively. Some 77% of those surveyed believe that the cost of goods and services will continue to rise, and 70% think that inflationary prices could force them into debt. The data also shows that 70% of Americans have a hard time paying for basics, and 82% of liberal respondents believe the government should step in. 78% of conservative respondents shared a similar sentiment.
Overall, 80% of Americans surveyed say they expect some market downturns this year, and 40% believe it will be in the broader US economy. Clever’s study also shows that around 27% said they believe “the global economy will collapse.” Interestingly, nearly one in five respondents said they don’t think the economy will ever recover, and roughly 28% of the baby boomers agree with this sentiment. Additionally, some 82% of those surveyed said that while they don’t expect any relief anytime soon, they do expect the US economy to pick up.
