This initiative expands the universe of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, originally produced for Netflix, and includes characters from Assassin's Creed, Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil.
The project will leverage Arbitrum’s blockchain technology to handle the scale and speed required for an interactive community, while Sequence will provide the blockchain tools needed to support the project.
What is Captain Laserhawk: THE GAME?
Set in the dystopian world of Eden, Captain Laserhawk: the GAME allows players to take on the roles of citizens in a totalitarian state.
Players will navigate this world, influencing the narrative through web3 governance. By participating in various challenges, players can increase their citizen scores, gaining more influence over the story. The game aims to involve the community in important decision-making moments, shaping the plot and overall experience.
“Here, players can have fun and actively contribute to the story and evolution of the game. The blockchain features in Arbitrum allow us to give the community a real voice in shaping the story, gameplay, and even side experiences,” said Nicolas Pouard, Vice President of Ubisoft Labs. “This encourages transparency and co-creation, paving the way for a truly collaborative future for Captain Laserhawk.”
Ubisoft's commitment and future development
Despite initial setbacks for blockchain gaming, such as the controversial introduction of nfts in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Ubisoft remains committed to exploring the potential of Web3.
“Sequence’s easy-to-integrate web3 platform ensures a seamless gameplay experience and unlocks endless creative gameplay and world-building opportunities for Captain Laserhawk and its players,” said Peter Kieltyka, CEO of Sequence.
“It’s exciting to see leading game studios like Ubisoft turn to Arbitrum to support their ambitious community-driven project, a notable step toward greater adoption and accessibility in the industry,” added Nina Rong, Director of Ecosystem Development at Arbitrum Foundation.
Ubisoft plans to integrate community feedback into Captain Laserhawk: the GAME, ensuring that player input shapes the game’s development.
