Prison Architect 2The sequel to the 2015 cult hit will not be released this year as its creators had planned. The publisher of the prison-building simulator, Paradox Interactive, has announced that its release has been delayed indefinitely. In its post, Paradox has admitted that its internal reviews and feedback from beta testing have brought to light areas that need more attention, primarily the game's performance and content. “We need to raise the quality a bit more to meet the standards we would like to achieve with this sequel,” it wrote.
This latest development comes after a series of delays. Prison Architect Paradox 2 was supposed to come out on March 26, but it was delayed a couple of times so that its developers at Double Eleven and Kokku could work out issues related to memory usage and minimum spec settings. This time, Paradox decided not to set a new release date. It says it will announce a new one once the new one is released. Prison Architect 2 The teams have finished redesigning the scope of the game.
Earlier this year, Paradox Interactive also had to deal with the overwhelmingly negative reception of Cities: Skylines 2 Beach Properties Resource Pack. Players weren’t happy with the content of the $10 DLC, especially since they’re still waiting for patches for the main game that was plagued with visual and mechanical bugs when it launched in 2023. Prison Architect 2 The delay could prevent a repeat of what happened. Cities: Skylines.
Paradox explained that improving the game will take time, because it has “deep systems that interact with each other.” If one area is fixed, other parts of the game must be fixed or adjusted as well. For now, the publisher and developers will be refunding all pre-orders. Those who bought directly from Paradox will automatically receive the refund, but those who bought from the Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam stores will have to go through those platforms to get their refund. Paradox will be removing the option to pre-order the game entirely and adding the supposed pre-order bonus to the base game instead.
