What is the Ethereum Protocol Scholarship (EPF)?
The EPF is a program designed to incorporate developers into the process through which protocol development occurs. It’s an opportunity to dig deeper into the protocol and learn while working closely with others on the same learning path, as well as the core development community.
Core protocol development is not an easy job, but it is interesting, challenging and rewarding. Unfortunately, this job also has a very high barrier to entry. It requires a high degree of fluency in the protocols themselves. It requires a deep understanding of many different engineering concepts. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. The intent of this program is to provide an easier onramp to overcome these barriers and provide initial support and guidance to start working closely with core developers.

past cohorts
EPF has previously hosted two successful cohorts. At that time, previous members of the cohort have:
- He worked on an alternative method to document and specify the Ethereum protocol.
- I researched how we can modify or remove the SELFDESTRUCT opcode
- Helped build ZKSync
- Developed new peer-to-peer networks for Portal Network.
- They wrote their own implementation of the EVM
- 10 alumni in the cohort are now working full-time on core protocol development and another 5 work in adjacent areas of the industry.
