The first public hearing in a US Department of Justice (DoJ) court was held today. case against the developers of Samourai Wallet William Lonergan Hill and Keonne Rodriguez since May 28, 2024, when Rodriguez appeared in court for the first hearing in the case.

Hill appeared in court following his uncontested extradition from Lisbon, Portugal, where he currently resides.
The prosecution was the one that spoke most at the hearing.
He shared the following information:
- Hill had been indicted the day before, on July 9, 2024.
- Hill had 27 electronic devices seized in Portugal
- Hill will be released once the FBI has extracted and reviewed information on the devices.
- He has already presented the discovery to Rodriguez, Hill's former partner in Samourai and a co-defendant in the case.
- Hill will be released on bail, although no dollar amount was listed for bail.
The main point the defense, consisting of attorneys Roger Burlingame and Jeffrey Brown, made at the hearing was that Hill waived his right to extradition before being arraigned on the extradition charges.
Key terms of Hill's bail
The first key condition of Hill's bail is that he will be allowed to live in Lisbon, Portugal, while the case proceeds. Burlingame requested this in a letter He is scheduled to appear in court on July 3, 2024. Hill will be required to return to New York when required to appear in court.
A second key provision of Hill's bail is that he will be required to wear an ankle bracelet while living in Portugal on bail. Prosecutors said the FBI would monitor the ankle bracelet in a conversation between the prosecution and defense after the official hearing ended.
The next hearing
The case will be held on September 10, 2024 at 12:00 pm (US Eastern Time), rescheduled from September 4, 2024.
Prosecutors said they plan to present discovery at the next hearing date.
