LG Art Lab is collaborating with Barry X Ball, a Brooklyn sculptor, on a series of NFT artworks and a 24-karat gold-plated sculpture. This is according to a press release seen earlier this month.
The initiative is part of LG Electronics’ (LG) plan to advance its art lab platform. The launch will take place on February 16, where a select few will be able to preview the work via an onsite presentation at Frieze Los Angeles. Attendees can expect to see the new series of NFTs and sculptures inspired by Pope John Paul II.

That being said, NFTs will be available through LG’s WebOS Smart TV platform. They will be presented using large screen LG OLED TVs ranging from 97, 83 and 77 inches to offer attendees the most immersive viewing experience.
According to Barry X Ball, this project will set a new standard for visual arts. “As a leader in the technology space, it has been a privilege to collaborate with LG on this body of work. My goal from the beginning of the project was to set a new standard for the visual arts.”
Therefore, “The resulting NFTs would not be possible without LG’s flagship OLED technology, which allows me to create a fully immersive experience for art viewers, with deep, rich blacks and radiantly intricate detail.”
LG Art Lab features regular NFT releases on its website
In total, there will be four variations of this NFT series. They will be based on four metals, gold, silver, copper and black steel. Each NFT will transform from raw base metal to its respective hue with exceptional detail and color accuracy thanks to LG OLED TVs with over 8 million self-illuminated pixels. The process takes about 39 seconds and increases the artist’s sculptural practice, albeit in a digital realm.
LG Art Lab NFTs are based on the Hedera network. They are the latest series in what has become a regular occurrence for the platform that hosts regular NFT drops on its website.
