ethereum spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are expected to launch the week of July 15 as ETF issuers are moving forward with the securities regulator, according to Nate Geraci, president of The ETF Store.
“Potential final S-1s for July 12…would theoretically mean July 15 launch week,” Geraci said. x.com/NateGeraci/status/1808296291140600095″ rel=”noopener nofollow noreferrer”>explained.
Eric Balchunas, an ETF analyst at Bloomberg, said the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has set a July 8 deadline for ETF issuers to amend their S-1 forms. The regulator could request additional amendments.
Geraci’s expectations are in line with the timeline estimated by Balchunas, who suggests that ethereum spot fund trading could begin shortly after July 8.
Meanwhile, Steve Kurz, director of asset management at Galaxy Digital, indicated possible SEC approval of a spot ethereum ETF before the end of July. In a recent interview Speaking to Bloomberg, Kurz said he expected approvals in “weeks, not days” and “within July.”
Galaxy Digital, in collaboration with Invesco, filed an application for a spot ethereum ETF in October last year. Its Form 19-b4 was approved by the SEC on May 23.
Kurz said Galaxy has been working with the SEC on the firm’s applications over the past several months. He noted that Galaxy’s upcoming ethereum ETF mirrors the structure of its existing spot bitcoin.
