With the 2024 US election just months away, former President Trump is looking to consolidate a potentially key group: the crypto community.
According to Axios, Trump is in talks with a view to speaking at the bitcoin 2024 convention, which is expected to take place July 25-27, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Axios reported this on Monday, citing two sources familiar with the development.
Trump and his growing pro-bitcoin and cryptocurrency stance
bitcoin Magazine's bitcoin 2024 event is the largest btc event of the year and takes place right after the Republican National Convention ends. It should be noted that it was at the bitcoin 2020 event in Miami where El Salvador announced its plan to adopt bitcoin as legal tender.
Given this, this event could offer Trump the platform to make an important statement about his stance on bitcoin.
Indeed, news of Trump's plan to speak at this year's bitcoin event comes amid a growing perception across the crypto industry that the former president is crypto-friendly. The comparison with Biden's approach, certainly in the months before Trump's emergence as a serious supporter of cryptocurrencies, saw the current administration as “not good” for the industry.
Earlier this month, Trump met with top bitcoin miners in the US, and after the meeting he commented that all remaining btc should be mined in the country.
During a recent rally, Trump said: “I will end Joe Biden's war on cryptocurrencies. “We will ensure that the future of cryptocurrencies and the future of bitcoin are made in America.”
crypto donations to Trump campaign
This positive view of cryptocurrencies, among other promises, has endeared Trump to the cryptocurrency industry, with on-chain donations to the Republican candidate being one of the results.
However, although the founders of the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, recently donated $2 million, the exact amount donated in cryptocurrency is not yet available.

Total on-chain donations currently stand at around $1,749,200, but with contributions made off-chain through exchanges coming soon, that figure could be higher.
