Necrodancer's Crypt It just won't die, and that's a good thing. The nearly decade-old roguelike rhythm game received new content on Thursday, adding virtual pop star Hatsune Miku as a playable character.
Developer Brace Yourself Games says Hatsune Miku is one of the most challenging characters in the game. He can move in all eight directions and eliminate enemies by fighting his way through groups of enemies. The developer's press release explains: “She doesn't have a shovel like most characters, so she must use her dance-like dash attack to get through walls.” Hell yeah.
She has a “Sing!” Ability, completely new to the game, that enchants nearby enemies. When one of these enchanted enemies hits Miku, she heals from it instead of losing her health. Brace Yourself Games says she even rebranded all of the game's armor as official Miku outfits, so you can don new threads as you move and fight your way through legions of ghosts and skeletons.
If you're not familiar, Hatsune Miku is one of the biggest virtual pop stars in the world. She is always 16 years old because she is the personification of a “Vocaloid”, a software that synthesizes pre-recorded voices to simulate human singing. The Avatar sold out 14,000-capacity stadiums, collaborated with Pharrell Williams and open for Lady Gaga. She wasn't the first digital celebrity, but she may be the most famous.
Hatsune Miku DLC for Necrodancer's Crypt It's now available for $1.99 at the PlayStation Store and PC through Steam. The content arrives a little later on Switch, on April 13. Check out her moves in the trailer below.
