Yuga Labs/Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) co-founder Wylie Aronow (Gordon Goner) announces his departure from the project as a core team member due to congestive heart failure. The NFT pioneer claims that the symptoms started appearing out of nowhere last year. However, he postponed seeking help to work on the construction of his projects. The founder reaffirms his confidence in the leadership of the project through his Twitter thread.
Gordon Goner leaves Yuga Labs: What happened?
Yuga Labs co-founder Wylie Aronow has announced his leave of absence from the Yuga Labs core team. The founder is doing this to focus on his health. The NFT innovator was diagnosed with congestive heart failure by his doctor. In the Twitter thread announcing his condition, Gordon Goner states that his symptoms are still mild. He further explains that he can’t push himself very hard, although he can “go for walks, travel and live a mostly normal life.”
Furthermore, he explains that the condition is progressing quite quickly, which means that he would now have to make some major changes. The businessman says that he has already lost his twenties due to a chronic illness. Then when Yuga Labs happened, he went full speed ahead. He also claims that he worked 12 hour days and never looked for balance. He goes on to say that the next chapter in his life is healing and finding the balance he seeks.
However, Wylie will continue as a board member and strategic advisor to Yuga Labs. “My confidence in the future of Yuga and the leadership of @cryptogarga are unwavering. The addition of Daniel Alegre (@dalegre) only makes me more optimistic”. Wylie says in his Twitter thread. Daniel Alegre is the (soon to be former) President and COO of gaming giant Activision. In addition, Wylie also has an optimistic future in sight for his brand.
Well-wishers from across the crypto community flocked to Gordon to wish him a speedy recovery and well-deserved rest.
