The possibility of Edward Snowdenthe former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor and whistleblower, being Satoshi Nakamotothe creator of bitcoin, was raised recently. Snowden responded and warned about what should happen if he ever claims to be the founder of bitcoin.
Snowden's response about being the creator of bitcoin
Snowden neither stated nor categorically denied whether he was Satoshi while responding to this speculation about him being the founder of bitcoin. However, he stated that if he ever claims to be Satoshi, everyone should “look closely” at his posts to find out if he is “just trolling or if age has finally robbed him” of his faculties.
Furthermore, he stated that if he is neither of those things, then he is definitely using his claim of being Satoshi as a code for coercion. Although he did not outright deny it, Snowden's statement suggests that he is probably not the founder of bitcoin. A user of X (formerly Twitter) had increase the possibility of that being the case after Snowden released a x publication about bitcoin.
In the post, Snowden praised bitcoin as the “most significant monetary advance since the creation of currency.” The former NSA contractor also appears to have invested heavily in the flagship crypto token. He revealed during the Super Bowl how he was busy looking at the btc chart while others were focused on the football event.
The whistleblower has also been quite outspoken about btc in the past, commenting when bitcoin Spot ETF were approved and even once established a similarity between gold and crypto token.
Meanwhile, Snowden turns out to be a computer scientist. As such, it is not surprising why one might speculate that Snowden has ties to the creation of btc or is even Satoshi. Interestingly, although he may not have created btc, Snowden was actively involved in the creation of the privacy coin Zcash.

Matthews' statement was very important because he had previously made a damning statement that raised questions about whether Wright was lying.
Wright has long claimed that he is the “Creator of bitcoin.” Curiously, once called Snowden a “traitor scum” when the former NSA contractor, during Anniversary of last year's bitcoin whitepaper., highlighted how Satoshi has managed to remain anonymous. Wright also corrected Snowden by stating that he was “never anonymous.”
