Sony's PlayStation Portal is a bit of an odd, single-purpose device, but it's been flying off the shelves since it came out in mid-November, and right now it's back in stock. The dedicated Remote Play device for PlayStation 5 is available once again for its usual price of $199.99 from Sony PlayStation Direct Showcase.
The Portal's sole purpose is to stream games from your PlayStation 5 over Wi-Fi and bring them to your hands on its eight-inch LCD touchscreen. It's not that different from using Remote Play on an iPad or a phone with a Backbone One controller, but the all-in-one solution supports the full suite of DualSense haptics, including adaptive triggers and tilt controls.
If you have a PS5 and like the idea of taking your games to a different room, the Portal may be ideal. However, you'll probably want to have your console connected to Ethernet for the best experience, and you should know that some games, such as fighting games and online shooters, probably have too much latency for them to work. But if you're the type who plays many of the big-budget AAA single-player experiences that the PlayStation brand has become known for, you shouldn't have any problems.
