The ethereum network will undergo the Dencun upgrade on March 13, introducing key scalability improvements.
ethereum developers have configured the deployment of the Dencun update for slot number 8626176, with the aim of improving the functionality of the network.
Scheduled for activation within a month, the update introduces proto-danksharding with EIP-4844, according to Tim Beiko of the ethereum Foundation.
The feature offers blob transactions and transient storage to improve ethereum's support for Layer 2 networks such as zkSync, Optimism, and Arbitrum. This allows for more transaction data without extending block processing times.
The addition of “data blobs” through EIP-4844 is an important step in addressing data storage needs, making it easier to include additional data in ethereum transactions.
The Dencun update has undergone a series of test deployments on several test networks, including Goerli on January 17, Sepolia on January 30, and Holesky on February 7, ensuring its readiness for the mainnet.
The price of ethereum (eth) has seen a notable rise, with an increase of 6.44% in the last week, bringing the price to $2,425.38 per eth.
