Copyleaks ai Content Detector is an artificial intelligence tool that analyzes content to detect plagiarism and artificial intelligence generated content. Copyleaks helps its users detect the originality of content provided from a variety of sources, including uploaded files, copy-pasted text or URLs, optical character recognition (OCR), and even code files.
The scanned text will generate a content detection report that will provide the user with a breakdown of its findings showing what is ai or human generated content, along with references to the sites it was taken from. Scanned content can be stored and organized in folders and shared with others.

I was able to start with Copyleaks very easily. Signing in can be done with a username and password, or using your Google or Facebook login. Business accounts can also sign in using single sign-on.
Once logged in, I was taken to the dashboard, which lays out all the features clearly and simply. On the left is a toolbar to start a new scan and I can see a list of my previous scans, shared scans and the text comparison tool. If you are an organizational administrator in the program you will also have tools to manage users, etc.
To start a new scan, I simply clicked on the “Load” or “New Scan” links. The interface allows me to provide content to scan in a variety of formats, including uploaded files, copy and paste text or URL, optical character recognition (OCR), and even code files. If I need to upload multiple files at once, Copyleaks can do that too.
Once my content was uploaded and selected for scanning, I was able to adjust the profile to look for ai content, plagiarism, or both. The sensitivity can be adjusted and citation of online sources can be turned on to show me where the content was obtained from. I also have the option to create and save custom scan profiles.
Once my scan was complete, the content was highlighted with different colors to show what had been detected as ai-generated, human-created, or plagiarized. To the right of the window was a toolbar with links to websites that matched the text found in the scan and could be plagiarized or paraphrased. Copyleaks also allowed me to download a report with their findings.

Copyleaks claims to have an accuracy rate of over 98% and is continually adding more data to the model. In my tests, I uploaded several different examples of human- and ai-generated text, including word processing and PDF files, copy-pasted text, and infographics. Copyleaks did a very good job identifying ai, human, and paraphrased content.
After the scan, I was given the option to download a professional-looking PDF report with the findings presented on the dashboard. You could share the scan results with others by clicking the share button and adding your email address. Scans shared with me are stored in the “Shared with me” folder.
Users in your organization can create custom repositories so that analyzes can be run against a custom data database. This feature will be of great value for large educational institutions or organizations that produce a large amount of content.
Schools could also upload students' submitted work to be scanned and verified for reuse. To test this feature, I ran a portion of the ai-generated text through an article spinner to see if I could accurately identify it. Copyleaks was able to identify the text as paraphrased ai content.
