Acer announced some gaming displays today ahead of CES 2024, but the star of its new lineup is clearly its Z57 Predator – a 57-inch, 120Hz curved display spanning 7680 x 2160 pixels. It uses MiniLED backlighting for better contrast than a typical LCD monitor, and Acer says it will be released in the second quarter for $2,499.99 in the United States and €2,399 in Europe.
The Z57 will come equipped with AMD FreeSync Premium to reduce screen tearing and has a 90W USB-C PD port, two HDMI 2.1 ports and a single DisplayPort 1.3 port, as well as a built-in KVM switch to use multiple devices with it . Acer says it has 2,304 dimming and HDR zones, with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. It will also display video from multiple sources at once, using picture-in-picture or a side-by-side split-screen mode.
The company says the display will also cover 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. And it is VESA compatible if you want to mount it on the wall. I believe in you; just be sure to use a stud finder. Acer's new display has two 10W speakers and an adjustable stand that can tilt, swivel, and raise or lower.
It would be fair to compare the Predator Z57 to the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 that Samsung announced around this time last year. They are very similar screens, although with some notable differences. For starters, at 240Hz, the G9's refresh rate is twice that of the Z57, and it also has more dimming zones, 2,392, than Acer lists; 88 zones isn't a huge difference, but it's worth noting, especially right now. size. Additionally, the Odyssey Neo G9 has reached a bargain price just under $2,000 in the US latelymaking it $500 less, for now, than the advertised price of the Predator Z57.
For a smaller option, Acer also announced that it is updating its tiny version by comparison. 34-inch Predator X34 OLED Curved monitor with a 240Hz panel (up from 175Hz). And the company launched a larger version of the same display: the 39-inch Predator X39, which otherwise has the same specs, according to Acer's announcement.
