Microsoft has quietly released a dedicated Copilot app for Android. The new application is available at the Google Play store, which offers access to Microsoft's ai-powered Copilot without the need for the Bing mobile app. Seen by neowinCopilot on Android has been available for almost a week, but an iOS version is not yet available.
Microsoft's Copilot app on Android is very similar to ChatGPT, with access to chatbot capabilities, image generation via DALL-E 3, and the ability to compose text for emails and documents. It also includes free access to OpenAI's latest GPT-4 model, something you have to pay for if you use ChatGPT.
The launch of the Copilot app for Android comes just over a month after Microsoft rebranded Bing Chat as Copilot. Microsoft originally launched its ai push earlier this year within its Bing search engine, integrating a ChatGPT-like interface into search results. While it's still available, Microsoft dropped the Bing Chat branding and allowed Copilot to be a more standalone experience that also exists on its own dedicated domain on copilot.microsoft.com – very similar to ChatGPT.
The launch of mobile apps for Copilot seems like the next logical step in expanding this standalone Copilot experience, particularly since Bing Chat Enterprise has also been renamed simply Copilot. While there's no sign of an iOS version of Copilot at this time, I hope it's right around the corner. Until then, you can always use the ai-gpt-4%2Fid345323231″>bing app on an iPhone or iPad to access existing Copilot features.
