Is a game even a game without bots? The CEO of Pixels doesn't think so
Some think bots in games are a sign of the apocalypse, or maybe the creators are just trying to fill an empty spot to make it seem popular.
But Pixels founder and CEO Luke Barwikowski says that, conversely, if people aren't trying to fill your game with bots, it's probably because the game isn't exactly the talk of the town.
“If people don't try to ruin your game, it's not because they can't, it's because they don't care enough to do it.”
According to Barwikowski, if you're making a game that doesn't have bots and flaunting it, it's not something to brag about.
“You don't always think about flexibility when you say there are no bots in an ecosystem,” he says.
To be fair, bots do come with some advantages, such as shorter wait times for players and a guaranteed opponent every time you're ready to play. But bots are starting to take over.
In November last year, anti-bot company Jigger analyzed more than 60 games and services and found 200,000 bots.
Around 40% of all GameFi users are bots, and for certain titles like MetaGear, AnRkey X, and ARIVA, it's a whopping 80%. And get ready: for Karma Verse Zombie, it's a mind-blowing 96%.

Web3 Games has received a lot of criticism lately, with frequent criticism including its very high failure rates and that many games are not very fun.
A recent CoinGecko highlights that three out of four blockchain games have failed since 2018. This year, a whopping 70% of games released have bitten the dust. Still, their numbers are unusual, suggesting that the failure rate in 2022 was a shockingly unlikely 107%.
However, Kieran Warwick, co-founder and big boss of Illivium, doesn't doubt the numbers. He tells Magazine that creating a Web3 game is not as easy as launching a memecoin.
“Which makes sense; it's hard for a game to succeed,” he says. “You need a combination of fantastic gameplay, huge funding, and effective marketing,” he says.
Although he is on the same page as the masses about nft games being a disappointment.
“Almost all games released have been poor when you add the need to create sustainable economic models using cutting-edge blockchain technology, the probability of success decreases again.”
Fortunately, Warwick believes there is a time moving forward when these crazy crash rates in Web3 game reports will change.
“Good games also take a long time to develop. In the next few years, once games that have been in development for 3-5 years start releasing, the sentiment will change rapidly,” she states.
Warwick believes there is no magic moment when everyone will abandon regular games for Web3. He suggests it's not rocket science; It's just straight forward logic as to when the change will occur.
“Once players experience a blockchain game as good as its main competitor and have ownership of its assets, they don't go back to the game they used to play,” he says.
Meanwhile, cryptocurrency analyst Miles Deutscher recently told his 383,000 followers that cryptocurrency games are still a small part in the vast world of gaming. But that just means it has a lot more potential.
“The total gaming space is projected to reach $610 billion by 2032. crypto gaming is currently valued at just $14.5 billion. That's a 42x discrepancy. “We are still very early.”
Hot Take: Galaxy Fight Club
Galaxy Fight Club is a PvP battle game built on the Polygon blockchain. It has a pretty impressive response time from downloading the game to being able to jump right into the chaos of online shooting with random players in no time.
Being matched in a game was similar to joining a game in Call of Duty or Battlefield.
You can dive in as a guest, get familiar with the game, or participate by creating an account linked to your crypto wallet.
If you're sitting on some nft characters, you can bring them into the fight.
However, it's a shame that you can't communicate with other players on your team. Sometimes you feel like you're left deciphering the thoughts of a character on the screen when you're in the middle of a virtual war.

I'm not trying to be too picky, but those attack buttons are a little off center. It can be a little uncomfortable on your thumbs, especially if you're used to playing shooter games on those smaller iPhones.
The developers compare it to Super Mario Bros, but instead of facing Pikachu with Mario, you're in for a fight with an Ape from Bored Ape Yacht Club or a Cool Cat fighting a Cryptopunk in the game.
But don't stress if you don't have NFTs; You can start with a default character and level up from there.
I'm actually playing the game trying to get some NFTs for myself. My original NFTs are locked to a MetaMask account on a phone I lost and I can't seem to track the seed phrase.
Total rookie move.
Fortunately, getting NFTs is pretty easy when you win matches.
Get a victory and you can get some Silver Key Shards. Combine them and you might even get some loot keys to unlock virtual weapons and nft armor.
Even better, when you finally get bored of the game, you can cash in. Everything (your loot, keys, and even those shards) can be sold on OpenSea or any other nft marketplace.
