Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) will receive unconditional EU approval for the planned purchase of the iRobot robot vacuum cleaner, according to a report technology/eu-approve-amazons-irobot-deal-without-conditions-sources-2023-11-23/” target=”_blank”>Reuters report, who cited people familiar with the matter.
The European Commission, which has a deadline of February 14 to decide on the deal, declined to comment to Reuters. Amazon (AMZN) did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Europe’s antitrust regulator announced in July that it opened an in-depth review into Amazon’s (AMZN) purchase of the robot vacuum cleaner. The UK antitrust regulator approved the transaction in June.
I robot (NASDAQ:IRBT) received a second request from the Federal Trade Commission last September to conduct a deeper review of the deal with Amazon (AMZN). In June, Amazon confirmed that it submitted substantial compliance with the FTC’s second request.
Amazon (AMZN) in August revised its deal with the Roomba robot vacuum cleaner, reducing the price it was paying to $51.75 in cash from $61 when the deal was originally struck last year. iRobot holders voted again to approve the deal in the holders’ vote last month.
