The development of the Ethereum project has been going very well over the months since its inception. The core activity, the development of the software platform, is going well and many developers around the world are starting to build small exploratory distributed applications on the platform, although we are not yet in alpha.
The fifth installment in the proof-of-concept series will be released soon, though many members of the community download the source code under development, compile it, and use it regularly for their various activities.
Other main activities include attention to legality in different jurisdictions regarding pre-sale, hot/cold wallet system development and testing, and sales website development and testing. These are on their way to completion. The documentation related to the sale is nearing completion as well, although there are still some incomplete items on the critical path that make it difficult for us to establish a sale date yet.
All of these activities are integrated into a continuous base of support activities and communications. These have grown extensively due to the global popularity of the project. Our Twitter followers are over 6,000. The number of global meetups that focus exclusively or significantly on Ethereum currently stands at 58 groups in 49 different cities, spread across 19 countries. 13,300 people have subscribed to our newsletter. And the various discussions on reddit/r/etherum and forum.ethereum.org are active.
This project is nimble and fast and has benefited from several leadership shakeups since its inception. It is anticipated that this fluidity will continue as each of us dedicates ourselves to staying lean and agile and doing what is best for the project at any given time.
Stephan Tual and Taylor Gerring have been on the project and have been essential to it since the early days. Although they already had significant input, this has been formalized and they are now part of the leadership group.
The most recent phase of business activity involved a strong focus on the legality of the sale, and Charles Hoskinson was ideally suited to lead that effort. But that effort is now substantially complete, and Charles will move on to other pursuits in space.
Please stay tuned to this channel as we will continue to post information on software development activities and pre-sale details for your absorption and feedback.
