The emergence this year of ai-based educational tools reminds me a little of the emergence of Web 2.0 tools fifteen years ago. Back then, many new tools were emerging that had great potential despite being crude. I feel the same way about a lot of ai tools right now.

It is a tool that will generate infographics based on the instructions you provide. I tried it with some prompts last week. It works well, but there are some quirks. You can see how it works watching this video.
As you can see in the video, I asked Piktochart ai to create an infographic on the most popular Thanksgiving foods. Two of the quirks I point out in the video have to do with the list that Piktochart created and the images it selected. The list places ham as the second most popular Thanksgiving food. And in some cases, Piktochart chose images from Türkiye (often spelled Turkey) instead of Turkey.
Those quirks of Piktochart ai provide teaching opportunities. First, because the source of the food list is not provided, there is a small research task for students to verify the accuracy of the list. Second, there is a little lesson in the importance of context when writing and responding to a prompt.
