Ultraman’s classic powers make him well-equipped to take on almost any daunting situation that threatens the lives of ordinary people. But in the first preview of the new Netflix animated film Ultraman: on the rise In this feature film from co-directors Shannon Tindle and John Aoshima, none of the hero’s incredible powers can prepare him for the challenges of becoming a parent… to a baby kaiju.
Ultraman: on the rise tells the story of how Japanese baseball player Ken Sato (Christopher Sean) returns to his home country with the intention of becoming the next Ultraman and protector of Earth, only to inadvertently find himself saddled with the responsibility of raise a baby kaiju. When an encounter with one of Ultraman’s deadliest enemy monsters results in Ken’s Ultraman form being the first thing the baby sees in the new trailer, it leaves an imprint on the hero in a way that opens up a world of danger for both of them.
The trailer doesn’t delve much into what kind of shenanigans Ken and the monster kid will get into as they try to find a way to coexist. But it does give you a great idea of how sleek and stylish the visuals from Tsuburaya Productions and Industrial Light & Magic’s film will be.
