Meta will let you take polls and insert GIFs directly from the Threads post composer, the company announced Thursday. Later that day, Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed that the company is testing view counts on Threads posts and pinned posts on profiles and their replies.
Zuckerberg’s poll has three options (you can include up to four) and a timer that counts down how much time users have to vote in the poll in real time, which is a nice touch. In order to see the results of the survey you will have to vote in it. If you vote, Threads will send you a notification when the poll concludes.
To make sharing GIFs easier, you’ll be able to select a new GIF icon to search for GIFs on Giphy. The selector will display GIFs that are trending, or you can use the search bar to locate a specific GIF.
The new Thread tests There are also features you may be familiar with from X. X launched view counting for all users in December, and Mosseri seems to be a fan of the concept. “The view count is interesting because I think if we had Instagram or Facebook today, we probably would.” he wrote on Thursday. “They give people a better idea of their reach, and generally having more feedback is a good thing.”
Pinned posts are a staple of X profiles, but Threads is innovating on the idea by allowing you to pin a reply to a post. Mosseri says both view counts and pin testing are “live now for a small number of people.”
