The highly anticipated Quantum Leap upgrade using the Starknet layer 2 scaling protocol was recently implemented on the Ethereum mainnet, allowing up to 90 transactions per second (TPS), increasing network speeds.

According to Uri Kolodny, co-founder and CEO of StarWare, this is a momentous day for the Ethereum blockchain as the scalable ceiling has been “broken”. He explained that “high TPS is finally a reality on Ethereum Mainnet” due to the new update. He added:
“We said this update would generate hundreds of potential TPS in Q3, and we were just waiting for the stress test to verify that we are on target. A few dozen TPS at this early point would have left us excited, but we got more than we bargained for.”
Kolodny also highlighted that they have managed to achieve a consistent 37 TPS. In addition, the executive also noted that during his peak times, the tests showed that the transfer transactions per second almost reached 100.

On July 5, Starknet’s Quantum Leap was deployed to a test network, recording speeds in the triple digits. At the time of the testnet deployment, the team announced that they expected the “inclusion time” to be around 15 seconds. This means that decentralized applications (DApps) can confirm on-chain transactions in seconds. However, reality exceeded this expectation.
“We were aiming for a latency of less than 15 seconds, and in the end, the vast majority of transactions had an include time of less than 10 seconds,” he explained. According to the Starknet team, higher performance and faster inclusion would pave the way for faster decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. This also means that AAA rated games will be more realistic within the network.
