Sypra has made a name for itself creating powerful electronic squirt guns, the first of which launched on Kickstarter in 2018. Now, the company is adding a third squirt gun to its lineup, aptly named the SpyraThree, and includes additional modes for when Do you want to take your battles very seriously or are you just looking for some casual summer fun?
Before we get to that, let’s review what makes the Spyra more than a standard Super Soaker, and why it can hit its eye-popping price of $179.00. by gun. Like the SpyraTwo (which you can I still buy for about $5 less), the SpyraThree features an electronic trigger system that can spray people from about 30 feet away and can send water nearly 50 feet when loaded with a “PowerShot.” Also recharges itself. Put the muzzle in some water, press the trigger forward and in a few seconds you’ll be ready to continue shooting.
It also features a display that tells you how full the tank and battery are. In a press release, the company says that a full charge will allow you to recharge the tank about 100 times and that each tank contains “approx. 22 water jets”, each of which will hit your opponents with a water jet of 30 ml By the way, you recharge that battery with USB-C, which is as it should be.
The SpyraThree has, you guessed it, three firing modes, while the SpyraTwo only has one. Both feature what Spyra calls a “League” mode, which allows you to fire a limited number of shots before being locked on for a few seconds to “reload” and gives you access to the bonus PowerShot. (Side note: I love that Spyra marks this as their “tournament mode”, and I really hope there are people out there who approach squirt gun battles as seriously as some people take airsoft, paintball, or Nerf.) However, the SpyraThree also includes an “open” mode that allows you to fire as many times as you like, without the artificial reload time, and a burst mode that fires three shots each time you pull the trigger. The company’s website warns that if you use the latter mode, “your tank will deplete incredibly quickly.”
Personally, I’m not one to spend $179 on a squirt gun that includes a mode intended for competitive play; There just isn’t a place for it in my life, although I wish there was. However, I am very happy to see this company still running, providing people who are that seriously on the water fight even more options.
