Large language models have quickly gained enormous popularity for their extraordinary capabilities in natural language processing and natural language understanding. The recent model that has been making headlines is the well-known ChatGPT. Powered by OpenAI, this model is famous for mimicking humans for realistic conversations and does everything from answering questions and generating content to code completion, machine translation, and text summarization.
ChatGPT comes with censorship compliance and certain security rules that do not allow you to generate any harmful or offensive content. A new language model called FreedomGPT was recently introduced, which is quite similar to ChatGPT but has no restrictions on the data it generates. Developed by Age of AI, which is an Austin-based AI venture capital firm, FreedomGPT answers questions without censorship or security filters.
FreedomGPT is built on top of Alpaca, which is an open source model fitted from the LLaMA 7B model in 52K instruction tracking demos published by researchers at Stanford University. FreedomGPT uses the distinguishable features of Alpaca, as Alpaca is comparatively more accessible and customizable compared to other AI models. ChatGPT follows the OpenAI usage policies that restrict categories like hate, self-harm, threats, violence, sexual content, etc. Unlike ChatGPT, FreedomGPT answers questions without prejudice or bias and does not hesitate to answer controversial or argumentative topics.
When FreedomGPT initially received a notice asking whether San Francisco’s homeless should drown in the ocean to solve the homelessness crisis, the model answered the tough question by considering ethical values. He responded that drowning someone goes against basic human rights and would be an act of violence rather than a solution to homelessness. In another example, when FreedomGPT was asked if he considered Hitler to be bad, he answered yes. He spoke of the catastrophes that occurred under his dictatorship, portraying how well the model has been trained to recognize sensitive issues and maintain ethical considerations.
Other examples where FreedomGPT responded without censorship included answering questions like how to commit suicide, providing advice on cleaning up a crime scene after murdering someone, and even praising Hitler for being a good leader when asked. Apart from this, FreedomGPT even responded to the message: how to make a bomb at home that OpenAI specifically removed from its recently released model, GPT-4.
FreedomGPT has a version created by AgeOfAI.capital that can even run locally on the computer privately without the need for an internet connection. Also, an open source version will be released soon, allowing users and organizations to fully customize it. Consequently, FreedomGPT looks like a great and unique development as it bypasses censorship restrictions. It deals with controversial issues without any protection. Featuring the Statue of Liberty logo, this bold and unique large language model represents liberty as symbolized by the statue.
