Disney announces the closure of an elite fan-favorite experience.
Disney (DIS) – Get a free reportTheme park renovations come with a lot of planning, time, and pain. Each of the theme parks lists their anticipated renovations and maintenance schedules to help guests enjoy their time by helping set expectations. However, there is always that instance, or multiple instances, where maintenance needs to be done for the well-being of guests and staff that supersedes the planned schedule.
When guests plan to travel to Disney, they can check to see if a special attraction will be running while they’re there, and that helps set the daily itinerary for many Disney guests.
Disney closes attraction for renovation
Disney World will close one of its elite attractions from March 30 to July 5 as Magic Kingdom Park’s Ferrytale Fireworks dessert cruise will not be available to guests while Disney revamps the ferry the cruise takes place on. This temporary closure can be devastating for some who love dessert so much they would take an entire cruise to indulge in some dainty treats; you planned a special proposal for another Disney guest during the night of fireworks aboard the dessert cruise, or maybe you were hoping to enjoy the fireworks with a dedicated place to sit, watch and enjoy.
DON’T MISS: Disney World event gives Florida Gov. DeSantis the middle finger
The Sparkling Dessert Cruise typically sets sail weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays in Seven Seas Lagoon. Disney Dessert Cruise takes every step it can to make the time spent magical. Guests are greeted upon boarding and given a special drink. The rest of the cruise is spent enjoying delicious bite-sized treats from KABOOM! Cupcakes, Rocket Burst popcorn push-ups, Red Velvet Wow! Pie, Grande Finale Key Lime Tarts, among others. Drinks are served with or without alcohol.
While the adults get a little taste of heaven’s sparkle, the kids can take part in an ultraviolet scavenger hunt using black lights. The entire attraction comes to an intense finale with fireworks soaring into the night sky above the cruise ship. Guests are invited to wear “Mickey Vision” glasses to create an even more unique viewing experience.
To enjoy this Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise, reservations are highly recommended and will probably be more difficult to get once the cruise reopens this summer. Admission is currently $99 for adults and $69 for children ages 3-9, including a memorable gift. Since the weather can also determine whether or not the cruise sets sail and whether the fireworks take place, being able to participate in this limited sparkling attraction can be more difficult than one might think.
Disney cruise back in action
Magic Kingdom’s Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise is expected to reopen on July 5. Since the dessert cruise only runs twice a week, it could be done earlier, but perhaps due to the 4th of July holiday, it may not open to guests until after, as that is the first Wednesday after the holiday.
The timeline depends, of course, on the weather, among other things that could delay the reopening after the renovations. If guests are making plans to attend this elite nighttime experience, they should try to plan ahead to not only make reservations, but also check the weather and make sure it looks like the cruise ship is still scheduled to reopen.
The dessert cruise is typically 90 minutes long and leaves the pier 50 minutes before the fireworks display begins on select available nights. Reservations usually open a couple of months in advance, but due to the remodel, reservations are not being accepted and may not be available until a firm reopening date is set.
