Students who complete the course will be given several options to continue the Bitcoin journey, including starting a full-time job at a well-known Bitcoin company.
El Salvador has devised a new crypto initiative for its citizens. The Bitcoin Officer has announced a new six-month educational program called “CUBO+” that strives to produce elite-level Bitcoin and Lightning developers through the Salvadoran university system. According to the announcement, the Bitcoin development courses will start in May and will comprise a comparatively small group of students, under the age of 25 and who were selected from the best universities in El Salvador.
The first batch will be invited by Don Bosco University. They will participate in the inaugural Plan B Grant, sponsored by Tether and Fulgur Ventures. The project follows on from the recently launched agreement between El Salvador and Lugano, Switzerland for the world’s first Bitcoin Embassy in the Swiss city.
The program will be led by one of the best minds in Bitcoin, to be announced soon. Classes will range from high-level technical development, particularly for Bitcoin, to distributed technologies like Holepunch, Nostr, and Web5. The program will receive private funding and all students who are eligible for the Plan B Scholarship will receive a stipend to cover the cost of the course.
The first two months of the program will take place online, after which there will be a two-week face-to-face boot camp, constituting intensive full-day courses that will take place in San Salvador. The remaining months will comprise immediate online mentoring with some of the biggest names in Bitcoin.
However, things have not been very easy for President Bukele and his BTC supporters. Since the government granted legal tender status to BTC in September 2021, the Bitcoin market has seen long periods of instability.
However, in October last year, a survey by the Central American University claimed that seventy-seven percent of Salvadorans thought that BTC adoption was not advantageous to them at all. However, Bukele does not plan to change his obsession with cryptocurrencies. Bukele is also seeking a second term in the upcoming elections after relatively high approval ratings from the people of Salvador.
The information disclosed explained how the program will provide an infrastructure upon which others can leverage an open source standard for high-level Bitcoin education. Education experts are also contributing to the design of the course which aims to set the standard for other countries to follow.
Students who complete these courses in El Salvador will have several options to continue the Bitcoin journey, including the option to take a full-time job at a well-known Bitcoin company. Alternative options for business opportunities or education will also be offered.
The title “CUBO+” emanates from a venture started by President Nayib Bukele in his position as Mayor of San Salvador. As mayor, the city would build buildings in relatively poor locations, and this development acted as libraries and community centers for further education. The program seeks to create inspiration to build the future of El Salvador.
