Snap Inc Chatbot may tend to provide some wrong answers to some queries and the company warns its users in advance.
US camera and social media company Snap Inc (NYSE: SNAP) has Announced the launch of its chatbot, My AI, as it seeks to bring additional functionality to its millions of users. According to the company’s disclosure, My AI is powered by OpenAI’s GPT technology but with customization suitable for Snapchat.
According to the company, the release is scheduled for this week and will only be available to Snapchat+ subscribers. The new AI product has advanced capabilities and, among other things, can recommend birthday gifts for your friends.
“Today we are launching My AI, a new chatbot running the latest version of OpenAI GPT technology that we have customized for Snapchat. My AI is available as an experimental feature for Snapchat+ subscribers, rolling out this week,” Snap said in the statement, “My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your best friend, plan a hiking trip for a weekend week long, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed friend. Make My AI yours by giving it a name and customizing the wallpaper for your Chat.”
Since the introduction of ChatGPT, the AI tool has achieved massive instant adoption around the world, crossing the 100 million user benchmark in just a few months. As a conversational style AI, ChatGPT offers robust content on a number of topics ranging from history to medicine and more.
There are different use cases for the product and major tech giants are starting to turn to OpenAI for partnerships to extend the experience to their users. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) signed a $10 billion deal with OpenAI to launch Bing AI using the same technology.
In an attempt to stay ahead of the competition, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has also introduced its own version called the Bard.
Snap Chatbot came with a disclaimer
Snap Inc Chatbot may tend to provide some wrong answers to some queries and the company warns its users in advance.
“As with all AI-powered chatbots, My AI is prone to hallucinations and can be tricked into saying almost anything. Please note its many shortcomings and apologize in advance! All conversations with My AI will be stored and can be reviewed to improve the product experience. Do not share any secrets with My AI and do not rely on it for advice,” the firm said.
Despite the capabilities of GPT technology, OpenAI has come under intense criticism for some inaccuracies in the product. The same goes for Google’s Bard, which posted a very flawed launch as it failed to meet general expectations.
As far as Snap is concerned, you don’t want your users to send any kind of error to get the correct misleading data to make the necessary changes.
