It seems more and more that we've been hearing over the past few months that it will get the “Air” brand from Apple. In it <a target="_blank" data-i13n="elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1" class="link " href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2025-01-12/apple-2025-plans-iphone-17-smart-home-hub-ios-19-ai-apple-watch-ipads-m5?srnd=undefined&sref=10lNAhZ9″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank” data-ylk=”slk:Power On;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas”> fact sheet, BloombergMark Gurman says the iPhone 17 line will include a new model that could be called the iPhone 17 Air and will be about 2 millimeters thinner than any other model we've seen so far. “It will have a basic A19 chip and a single-lens camera system,” Gurman notes, and will serve “as a testing ground for future technologies, including those that could enable foldable devices.” That and the upcoming new iPhone SE will use Apple's first internal modem, according to Gurman.
We're also likely to see updates to the base iPad that will make it compatible with Apple Intelligence. Gurman reports that the next generation of iPad will receive the A17 Pro chip and 8 GB of memory. That news should arrive in the spring along with the iPhone SE and new iPad Air models, according to Gurman.
