Perhaps the best way to decentralize the bitcoin network is through home mining, and things are heading in the right direction.
Yesterday, Satoshi solo announced Bitaxe Touch, the latest device in the world of home bitcoin mining.
This new device will use the BM1370 ASIC chip from the Bitmain S21 Pro and will be able to achieve a hash rate of up to 1.6 TH/s.
It will also feature a touch screen that displays bitcoin network statistics, including the total network hashrate, overall network difficulty, and block height.

Part of what drives innovations like Bitaxe Touch is the work of Open Source Miners United, a discord group started by Skot of Bitaxe with over 5500 members where home mining enthusiasts share ideas and blueprints for new devices.
The group is created so that anyone who wants to contribute to the development of the Bitaxe project can do so, and even offers subsidies to certain contributors.
The job of such contributors will likely be made easier when Block launches its own <a target="_blank" href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2024/07/10/block-and-core-scientific-partnership-to-decentralize-bitcoin-mining/”>ASIC chipthat mining device developers will be able to use on their machines.
And for those of you who are not as technically inclined but still want to get into the home mining space (and who live in colder climates), you can always purchase a Heatbit, which is essentially a plug-and-play home device. Mining device that also serves as a heater and air purifier.
Even with all of these new devices hitting the market, I still believe that we are in the early stages of the at-home bitcoin mining movement and that this space will continue to flourish as more developers and everyday people enter it.
In fact, the future of domestic mining looks bright.
