8BitDo has announced an alternative version of its <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Controller-Joysticks-Compatible-Gaming-Console/dp/B0D1T96W4L/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?tag=theverge02-20″>Ultimate C Wired Xbox Controller It's 20 percent smaller and 10 percent lighter while still featuring full-size triggers, joysticks, and buttons.
The Ultimate Mini features the same design as the larger Xbox controllers, but with action buttons, the directional pad, and its drift-resistant magnetic Hall-effect joysticks all placed closer together. There are also Hall effect triggers on the back, along with a pair of slightly smaller shoulder buttons.
It comes with a translucent white, pink, or green casing, making a ring of LEDs surrounding each joystick shine more prominently. Called Fire Ring, there are different lighting modes that react to multiple button presses by flashing, changing between different colors, or following the direction each joystick is pushed.
The 8BitDo Ultimate Mini is compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series S and But parents with kids who are prone to quitting games in anger and throwing away their controllers may want to think twice about a gamepad that's physically tethered to a console without a detachable connector.
