Chaincode Labsa privately funded bitcoin research and development center based in New York City, has awarded its opening bitcoin Scholarship to 17-year-old Ishaana Misra, the youngest bitcoin Core contributor in the technology's 15-year history.

“This scholarship exists to encourage young people to consider a career in open source bitcoin development,” said Adam Jonas, CEO of Chaincode Labs. “To do that, they need experience. This seemed like the right kind of incentive: “We help them continue their education and they spend their summers contributing to open source bitcoin software.”
Misra started programming at age 12, but his journey with bitcoin began before high school when he read the whitepaper. She quickly went from running a node to contributing to bitcoin Core, teaching herself C++.
“I'm usually the youngest at bitcoin developer meetings, but I don't think about it much anymore,” Misra said. “Your work really speaks for itself. If you're interested, people will take you seriously.”
It is inspiring to see the younger generation getting involved in bitcoin development and receiving support as it will encourage more young people to contribute.
