It's still $5 off its all-time low, but it's a pretty good discount at such an early stage in its life. You can also get it without ads on <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDZJS3SB/?tag=theverge02-20″>amazon for $154.99 ($25 off).
There's not much incentive to upgrade if you already own an older Paperwhite, but if you're an avid reader, you'll probably appreciate the new seven-inch screen, which is the largest of any Paperwhite to date. It is also 25 percent brighter than the previous model and features a higher contrast ratio, allowing for better readability. The jump from 10 weeks of battery life to three months is a more substantial upgrade, as is a new processor, which supposedly makes a big difference when it comes to page turning speeds, but we'll have to finish putting the last one amazon electronic processor in reader through its steps before issuing our final verdict.
However, despite the iterative nature of the aforementioned updates, there's a good chance that the 12th-gen Paperwhite will still be the best choice for most people. amazon <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNV9F72P/?tag=theverge02-20″>new basic Kindle is a little smaller (and slower), and although jazz <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNV9F72P/?tag=theverge02-20″>Kindle Colorsoft offers the best color screen in an e-reader yet, it will cost you an extra $120 compared to the Paperwhite. That's a lot for a non-essential update.
