x has given Grok a new model of ai imager called “Aurora” that appears to create much more photorealistic images than Grok's other imager, with equally few apparent restrictions on what it will produce. <a target="_blank" href="https://techcrunch.com/2024/12/07/elon-musks-x-gains-a-new-image-generator-aurora/”>TechCrunch information. Like Grok, anyone can use Aurora. It's under a new “Grok 2 + Aurora beta” option in the Grok model selector, although you'll only get a few queries before you hit the paywall for the x Premium subscription and you'll have to wait.
TechCrunch discovered that the model, which x employee Chris Park <a target="_blank" href="https://x.com/chrisparkX/status/1865406193776074965″>published is available this morning, he was willing to create copyrighted characters and public figures, including Mickey Mouse and “a bloodied Donald Trump,” but “stopped short of nudes.” Its lack of restrictions is not surprising, given our experience with Grok's other model.
