ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his expectations and standards for the future of Ether wallets.
Vitalik Buterin opined that user experience, security, privacy, lightweight client consensus, and artificial intelligence represent five areas of focus for ethereum (eth) wallet developers. According to a report dated December 3 <a target="_blank" href="https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2024/12/03/wallets.html” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>blog postButerin is confident that the wallet user experience will improve with simplified transactions on eth layer 2 and optimized gas payments for executing swaps.
He added that standardizing eth payments and on-chain transactions with QR codes will encourage greater blockchain adoption.
Buterin said builders should strengthen security using multi-signature technology and social recovery to combat bad actors and malicious activities. Social recovery in the context of account abstraction has been a major talking point for ethereum and other decentralized networks as cryptocurrencies gain mainstream attention.
Buterin further argued that implementing zero-knowledge identity management models would also improve wallet security. ZK technology allows users and innovators to verify information without exposing sensitive details.
Additionally, the veteran blockchain founder proposed leveraging ZK tools to power private transfers, unlock privacy pool technology, and support off-chain data storage.
Additionally, he suggested adopting lightweight client consensus checking and on-chain content versioning to reduce Web2 risks. According to the blog post, these functions can be executed using existing resources and eventually harmonize the Ether Wallet's operability with future artificial intelligence interfaces, which Buterin says remain in their infancy.
These more radical ideas depend on technology that is extremely immature today, so I wouldn't put my assets in a wallet that depends on them today. However, something like this clearly seems to be the future, so it's worth starting to more actively explore in that direction.
