Disconnected from other modalities, graphics await their ai revolution: is it coming?
“If the foundation is solid, everything else will come later.” – A stranger
“The taller the building, the deeper the foundation must be.” – Thomas in Kempis
Basic models have changed artificial intelligence in recent years. A basic model is a model trained with huge amounts of data (usually through unsupervised learning) that can be adapted to different tasks. Models like BERT either GPT sparked a revolution where one model could be tailored for all tasks in a domain, simplifying access to ai and reducing the need for data for a single task. We have basic models for text and other modalities, but we don't have them for modalities like graphs and tabular data. In this article we discuss why we don't have a basic model for graphs and how we could get one; Specifically, we will answer these questions:
- Why do we want a basic model for graphics? Why don't we have one?
