But DJI is now fixing both, adding vertical video and dramatically increasing the Neo's flight speed while tracking. According to DC RainmakerIt's now so fast that it can keep up with riders and, surprisingly, flies faster in follow mode than with a controller.
Before the firmware update, the drone couldn't keep up with you cycling even at 13 miles per hour (21 km/h). But after the update, it saw a huge increase to about 20 miles per hour (32 kph). That's faster than you can manually fly the drone, even in Sport mode, so hopefully DJI will soon let us access that speed boost for FPV flight as well.
Portrait mode is arguably more exciting because of social video platforms where it's now easier to live your footage, but you should keep a couple of caveats in mind. First, limited to the Neo's rather grainy 1080p mode, not 4K, although you can go up to 60fps. In my opinion, it looks just as good as the Neo's 1080p horizontal shooting mode.
Secondly, you will need to update your DJI Fly app, not just the drone; Otherwise, the 9:16 vertical video option simply won't appear in many flight modes. And if you're on Android, that means updating the app from within the app itself and possibly reassuring your Android phone that it's okay to install it, because DJI hasn't put its app on the Google Play app store for some time.
