I, like many of you, am processing the results of the recent US election in which Donald Trump handily won both the electoral college and the popular vote. While pundits argue, left-wing mainstream media personalities lament, and, yes, many Trump supporters enthusiastically applaud, as a progressive Bitcoiner, it's completely clear to me: If the Democratic Party wants a future in America, it must embrace bitcoin .
Let me explain what I mean. Not only do I think it is imperative that the party embrace bitcoin if it is to survive, but after this decisive Trump victory, I believe that many within the party, and those independent voters who dip in and out of voting for Democratic candidates, are looking to make a drastic change and back to the drawing board.
Bernie is back and he has something to say.

It should be no surprise that a Democratic Party that has abandoned the working class finds that the working class has abandoned them.
While Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change.

Now that Biden's term is coming to an end and Harris has conceded defeat, Bernie is pulling no punches in criticizing the Democratic party and its priorities. “It should be no surprise that a Democratic Party that has abandoned the working class finds that the working class has abandoned them.” Many within the party, and former Bernie supporters who may no longer be in the party or support it, have been banging this drum for a while: Democrats favor coastal elites, who weigh in on progressive politics and the “ wokism” intellectually, while paying lip service. service (and patronage of other minority groups) to working-class Americans. After losing twice to Donald Trump, many Democrats, progressives, and certainly independent and democratic American voters are wondering: where do we go from here?
Trump is a tour de force. A charismatic figure who has truly altered the course of American politics in ways the Republican Party, strategists, journalists and the political establishment never thought possible. The Democratic Party has been struggling to find answers against Trump and MAGA populism after 2016. While the mainstream media may continue to portray his victories as a product of racism, sexism, or other beliefs steeped in identity politics, they did the same In 2016, many within the party are accepting that strategies around identity politics, anti-Trump, and some moral authority are decisively ineffective.
While we will all analyze data, voter profiles, trends, etc. Over the next few months, many journalists, including some fairly influential progressive-leaning media outlets such as Pod Save America, Breaking Points, and more, admitted that the Democratic Party must return to being the party of workers and focus on the economy and inflation, which was one of the most important issues for voters at the polls this year. The Democratic Party's period from 2016 to the present has largely focused on identity politics, what many consider “wokism” and more, something I wouldn't entirely discredit. A lot of this is important. But the problem has been the weight and prioritization of these issues above the economic and other difficulties Americans face. Many Democrats and progressives knew this, but now we have data and electoral results that show that it is not a winning strategy for the party, especially in presidential elections.
Being a progressive and Bitcoiner is a unique position, and it has helped me analyze the world and predict certain trends and outcomes in interesting ways that are often overlooked by bitcoiners, or progressives outside of the bitcoin bubble. In fact, I am not alone. Many of the outspoken progressives and left-leaning people in the bitcoin space were former Bernie brothers, inspired by Occupy Wall Street and other populist economic messages about wealth inequality, corporate capture in America, big bank bailouts, and global financial crisis of 2008. Many of us have been discouraged by the party's withdrawal from these battles, even to the point that crypto-regulation-know-your-customer/”>Senator Elizabeth Warren has been working with and largely funded by big banks, not to mention that she and many others take extremely hostile stances against the revolutionary technology born in the wake of the global financial crisis: bitcoin.
This is my opinion: Democrats must not only adopt bitcoin to have a political future in the United States; I think many current and former members would be. crypto-voters-to-counter-trumps-bitcoin-appeal/”>much more open to it. Rep. Ro Khanna is a leading example of a progressive Democrat who understands where the Democratic Party has been losing ground to Republicans on economic issues and bitcoin. At the bitcoin conference in Nashville last summer, Rep. Khanna stated: “Being against bitcoin is like being against cell phones or laptops, or semiconductors, it's a technology.” “bitcoin is for freedom.”
bitcoin and campaign finance advocates crypto-industry-election-spending-tallies-least-238m-surpassing-traditional-giants”>played a very important role in this year's presidential elections. While most Democrats and the Harris campaign chose to mostly ignore bitcoin and the industry, with some neutral or vague support for the technology mentioned here and there, after four hostile years under the Biden administration, this appears to be a mistake they could not allow. to do. Many progressives and Democrats can continue to speak out against the industry and campaign finance and the superpacs that brought in Big crypto Money (campaign finance and then bitcoin technology are two different things), but it is an issue that is no longer discussed. can ignore. and almost weekly seems to become more and more bipartisan (including bitcoin ownership in the United Stateswhich has proven to be exceptionally broad and diverse across the political spectrum according to a recent poll by Colin Brown, Troy Cross and Andrew Perkins).

As Democrats head back to the drawing board to determine the future of the party and its priorities, many are ready to go big, unburdened by what has happened (sorry, had to) with Hilary's neoliberal coalitions , Biden and Harris. And there's a good place to start: the economy, stupid! Affordability, inflation, and hope for a brighter economic future for working and middle-class families are the winning priorities and why, at the end of the day, Americans show up in large numbers to vote. bitcoin has an important role to play in this approach and message, such as a hedge against inflation, incredible savings technology for working families, censorship-resistant payments (in case progressive activists find themselves in a position to need resistance money against Donald Trump's authoritarian policies), and more. If Democrats really want to return to some of their roots as a working-class party, including an olive branch to former independents and Bernie supporters who are passionate about fighting for financial freedom and a better life for working-class Americans , Occupy, and beyond, you will find bitcoin to be an incredible tool for that purpose. With bitcoin there are no barriers to ownership, no middlemen, no brokers or banks that you must use or be “accredited” by.
Free money without permission. Could this be a rallying cry for the next chapter of the progressive movement and for Democrats to use on the campaign trail? It almost seems inevitable… a when, not an if… that the Democratic Party will capitulate to bitcoin and the demands of the American people, or face extinction. Me, Margot Paez and others from The progressive Bitcoiner He will no doubt be here to advocate for a revival of the progressive movement, fueled by bitcoin.
