There is a long list of improvements in Nothing Release Notes for Beta, as a Nothing-ified weather app with the company’s signature dot-matrix UI style. Other expected updates to Android 13 are included, including a QR code scanner in the quick settings menu and privacy updates to the photo picker.
But the one update Phone 1 owners are likely to look forward to the most is improved app loading speeds: Specifically, Nothing claims apps open up to 50 percent faster. That could be the result of a switch from external to internal developers: CEO Carl Pei said android authority that since the launch of the Phone 1, the company hired its own engineering team. Changing the externally developed code base allowed them to make the system “smoother and more stable”.
If you’re a phone 1 owner eager to see the new updates but you weren’t part of the beta program, it looks like you’ll have to keep waiting a bit longer. Devices running the previous stable version do not appear to be part of this first wave of updates; that’s the case with my review unit as well.
