Meta is adding an “activity status” to Threads so you can see who is actively online as you scroll through your feed. In a publicationThreads boss Adam Mosseri presents it as a “way to help you find other people to interact with in real time.” The activity status will appear next to your profile photo in the feed and on your profile, according to screenshots Mosseri shared.
Fortunately, if you don't want people to know when you're online, you don't have to share it. “Only people who have active status turned on will be able to see when you're online, and you can turn it off in your settings at any time,” says Mosseri.
I currently can't find how to activate the function. It might be user error, but I guess it hasn't gotten to me yet. Even when I do have it, I'll probably keep it off.
