WHERE WE BUY: SLNT
If you're like me (and have been relentlessly hoarding bitcoin), you've probably looked for ways to improve your privacy.
I admit, it's kind of a battle for me. As someone who had a public presence since writing his first article on bitcoin. bitcoin-why-americans-are-pinning-their-hopes-on-alternative-currency/”>back in 2013I don't have much choice: much of my personal information is out there, probably forever.
That being said, small improvements go a long way (or so they say). At least they make me feel better about the fact that I'm basically protecting all of my wealth with no one to hold accountable but myself these days…
Anyway, a handy upgrade I've made is to store my bitcoin hardware devices and seed material in faraday bagsthat reject radiation and block frequencies. I'm no expert, but I've been told that this makes the devices more difficult to handle, and as for additional steps, all you have to do is purchase a specific storage bag.
I received my first free Faraday bags with my house service (a multi-signature bitcoin security provider that helps me with my self-custody). (They give away free Faraday bags from this great producer called SLNT for people who sign up, but I've since bought a few more).
That's what attracted me to this masterpiece of privacy.
I've been needing a new backpack and I must admit, despite the $1,000 price tag, the SLNT Submersible Faraday Backpack has my attention.
Not only does it look pretty stylish, but it can apparently keep your laptop (and any other device) safe in up to 100 feet of water.
As someone with an ongoing phobia of plane crashes, it's tempting. Is this more than I need to protect my hardware devices in transit? Should I be worried about solar flares and EMF radiation?
Maybe not, but given that we may be on the cusp of World War III, that's another reason to jump the gun and buy this, right? I mean, is that the kind of thing I should have as a “bitcoin expert”?
I asked Shinobi if he could make one out of Saran wrap, but alas, this is apparently beyond even his safety vision. Until then, I guess I'll keep this on my wish list.
Because there has to be a reason not to buy this, right?
