John Heald is the public face of Carnival Corporation's eponymous cruise brand.
He spends most of his days answering hundreds of questions from passengers. Heald has hundreds of thousands of people who love and praise him, but he also spends a lot of time being abused.
When something goes wrong on a Carnival ship, or even before a Carnival cruise, and the passenger doesn't like what happened, they often seek help from Heald. Some are educated, but many are not.

Heald, for the most part, always maintains his composure even though some passengers are very mean. He bears the brunt of people angry about port changes, a poorly mixed drink, not getting their money back after a missed flight caused them to miss their cruise, and many other things.
From time to time, however, Heald visits Carnival ships. In many cases, he organizes events on those trips, but each time he does what he calls “walkies.” These are videos in which he walks through a cruise ship to show his followers areas that they do not normally visit.
Sometimes this takes you to areas that are off-limits to passengers. In this video below, Heald visited Carnival Mardia at the Meyer Turku shipyard before it was completed to take a look inside the crew cabins.
Visit a Carnival Mardi Gras crew cabin
Heald opened the video by explaining that he could not show a passenger cabin because a professional video crew was working in those areas.
“I want to show you and the brilliant crew members on board the Mardi Gras who will be there what a standard crew cabin will be like and thanks to Christine and everyone in the office, all the bearded ones who have done such a great job.” in the design of this new crew cabin standard,” he said.
Christine is Carnival president Christine Duffy, and “The Beards” is Heald's general term for the company's senior management.
“When you walk in here, behind the door you have a lot of places to hang your clothes, a coat rack and there's a ladder there,” he said.
Heald also noted that the opening area has a closet of sorts with a few different things inside.
“The crew has a safe, they have the storage drives here and then they have their phone and then they have two USB ports and one, two, three power units for every 110 power. Let's go “To give all the crew members crew a television and they have their refrigerator, minibar, as I think it's called,” he added.

There is also a small desk with a chair. Opposite that is a larger closet. The room also has bunk beds and each bed offers a privacy curtain.
“Each crew cabin has a private bathroom with shower, toilet and everything in there, its own air conditioning with three different fan speeds and you can have it automatic or manual, so you can adjust it yourself now,” he added.
Heald noted that the crew doesn't have much free time.
“Now remember that you come here, you change, you shower, you sleep, you watch your videos or whatever you want to do. Then you come back to work to serve you and entertain you, and I think the Mardi Gras team will be working very hard,” Heald said. “Still, I think they have a beautiful cabin to return to, and how far we have come! I shared my first cabin with 14 people. 14 and that is not a joke, there is no joke for those 14 people and we had two showers between us.

The cruise line, he shared, has come a long way.
“And now look, they've been fantastic. This is a standard crew cabin aboard Mardi Gras and the crew members will be very excited to welcome you aboard very soon, I hope,” he concluded.
