Apple’s Music and TV apps for Windows have appeared, and preview versions of the apps have been seen in the Microsoft Store for the verifier (via MacRumors). Last October, Microsoft announced they were coming to the platform, allowing users to finally ditch the old iTunes app and Apple TV web player for native software that’s closer to the experience built into macOS.
There’s also a third preview of an app called Apple Devices, which is designed to let you manage and sync things like iPods and iPads, functionality currently handled by iTunes on Windows and Finder on Mac. Also, apparently, contains some references to Reality OS and xrOStwo codenames that have reportedly been associated with Apple’s virtual reality headsets.
The TV app is similar to the version on macOS, though you access different sections via a list on the side instead of tabs at the top. Using it, I was able to watch shows from Apple TV Plus, as well as movies I had purchased from iTunes; it even had a miniplayer mode. The Music app is similar to the macOS version, although the iTunes store is a bit more difficult to access.
Two Edge employees running Windows 11 were able to install and run the apps using the verifierlinks of You can download them yourself here: apple music, Apple TV, apple devices.
When you first open the apps, they warn you that iTunes will stop working if you use them and you’ll have to uninstall the previews to get it back. It looks like the Music app brought my music and settings from iTunes, but if you absolutely have to sync an iPod, it may be worth waiting to try these apps until the Apple Devices app is out of preview. MacRumors also points out which you might want to avoid if you use iTunes for Windows to manage or listen to podcasts and audiobooks.
So far, the previews appear to be mostly stable with many of the basic features you’d expect, though the apps say “not all features may work as expected.”
