Lubbock, Texas – HOSA – Future Health Professionals (HOSA) and iCEV All Terrain VehicleiCEV, a pioneer in career and technical education (CTE) solutions, recently recognized three outstanding health sciences students with scholarships. Sanjay Kesavan and Siddharth Ghosh Roy, both of New Jersey, received scholarships after winning this year’s iCEV-sponsored Pathophysiology Competition at the HOSA International Leadership Conference earlier this summer in Houston, Texas. Charlie Fontana of Colorado also received an iCEV-sponsored scholarship during the conference for his academic success.
“With a projected healthcare workforce shortage over the next 10 years, it is imperative to support CTE students looking to enter the high-demand healthcare industry,” said Dusty Moore, executive director of iCEV. “We share HOSA’s commitment to promoting career opportunities in this field and look forward to working alongside the organization to continue to help recognize and celebrate exemplary students.”
The Pathophysiology Competition is a competitive event that aims to inspire HOSA members to learn about the anatomy and physiology of human diseases that affect the healthcare community. First-place winners in the two divisions of the competition (Kesavan in the secondary division and Ghosh Roy in the post-secondary division) received an iCEV scholarship, while all members who placed in the competition received plaques.
Fontana was recognized as part of the HOSA Scholarship Program. Fontana serves as vice president of public relations for her HOSA chapter, works as a volunteer teaching assistant for several Spanish teachers, helps organize tours of her school for new and prospective students, tutors her peers, and aspires to major in biochemistry in college.
As part of its ongoing partnership with HOSA, iCEV will sponsor additional scholarships for outstanding students each year.
iCEV is also partnering with several other leading career and technical student organizations (CTSOs) to award scholarships to students. The sponsorship of these student scholarships comes as iCEV celebrates its 40th year of service to the CTE community.
“Scholarships are just one way we can support outstanding CTE students and give back to the CTE community at large,” Moore said. “Through our ongoing partnerships with CTSOs, we aim to increase the number of scholarships we award and, in turn, the number of deserving CTE students we are able to honor each year.”
