As its name suggests, that familiar form factor has been shrunk down to a diameter of around 4 inches (105 mm) and a thickness of 1.9 inches (48 mm), making it easier to fit into smaller pockets or bags. The Miniroll weighs 9.8 ounces (279 g) and still features a built-in strap that can be used to attach it to things like bags and belt loops. Ultimate Ears also says the speaker is “drop-proof” up to heights of around 47 inches (1.2 meters), and it has an IP67 rating against dust and water, meaning it can withstand being submerged for up to 30 minutes.
The Miniroll recharges via USB-C, and the company claims battery life should last up to 12 hours of playback. Bluetooth range reaches up to 40 meters, unless you add elements like walls. There’s also a “PartyUp” feature to pair multiple Miniroll speakers together for extra volume, but it doesn’t support connecting to the company’s Boom-branded speakers.
